Dead Man's Bones...

It's been a little while. Reality intrudes on the keeping up of one's blog when it's not your whole life...

I want to hate this for the simple reason that its yet another movie actor's band. For every Zooey Deschanel there are hundreds of Jason Schwartzman's and Jared Leto's that churn out crap and yet get airtime based on who is in the band instead whether the music is good.

That said, I have to admit that these guys are actually good - despite the fact that they feature Ryan Gosling. I'm not sure exactly what he's been in besides "The Notebook"; a movie that, as a man, has required me to hate him not only for being forced to sit through it once but also for providing many girls with unrealistic fodder of what a relationship is supposed to be...

Yet I enjoy this despite all of that:

Passion Pit - "I Got Your Number"

Ok, so I understand that I'm a little behind the curve here. I've been hearing "Sleepyhead" and "The Reeling" for several months and at first I found them irritating. Then they slowly worked themselves into my consciousness. Their album and EP are some of the best I've heard in the last few months.

I would have thought that they would be terrible live, but I learned my lesson about electro bands with Friendly Fires - they're fantastic live!
